AGING ISSUES
By: Sandra M. Jones & Alexis Webster

Growing Old at Home will take a collective affort and determination from us all. Serving Older Adults and Visiting with Care have teamed up to bring these issues to light. We are not bashing nursing homes heaven knows they are needed. We realize that most caregivers care for others day in and day out without the resources and time to keep their loved ones home.

Growing Old at Home is a mission that will assist families in keeping their loved ones in the home as long as possible. Our mission will take a great deal of funding and staffing. We support the idea of training people to care for the aged. The people that do care for others have a special compassion to help others do well.

We believe our training will deliver a strong message to the community that will enable us to take better care of those that have paved the way. We will establish training models and techniques that will pull professionals in the community together to better serve the elderly. Our mission will help nursing homes and assisted living facilities in retaining employees.

The mission will bring excitement along with a commitment in caring for the elderly. The community is not always senior friendly. We can change this by having drivers available to take seniors to the stores, doctor appointments etc.

We want to engage the young people in gathering the wisdom and knowledge that comes with old age. The community will need Physical & Occupational Therapists, Activity Instructors, Nurses, Doctors that specialize in Geriatric Medicine, Gernotology and more. Growing Old at Home is a training tool that will blanket the community with knowledge and hope.
